A spade is a spade

There are actually some people out there saying that K-Pop promotes and enables idolatry, it’s right there in the word idol and it speaks for itself, spiritually speaking. It’s not necessarily wrong to enjoy Korean popular music for as long as you don’t make those songs and musicians/bands idols, though it needn’t to be K-Pop proper to enable idolatry in some way. Things like Korean ballads and Trot music have already done the same thing to other people in a way, though I’m not sure if they deliberately enable idolatry in people themselves the way K-Pop does.

I’m on the fence whether or not these two musical genres are as bad as K-Pop, given my meagre knowledge of those and that they don’t seem to enable fanatical idolatry for other people the way most K-Pop bands do. I feel the bad thing about K-Pop idols and especially boy bands is that this idolatry isn’t just enabled, but also kind of institutionalised. Like how K-Pop boy band singers feign gay sex (for want of a better word) to arouse the imagination of their fans, like their managers do anything to deliberately sexualise them when they turn them into idols. It’s even more horrifying if they’ve consecrated them to the Devil.

Doing devilish pacts to get rich and famous and stuff, so it could be said that K-Pop (and to some extent, K-Entertainment in general) is Faustinian. There are Korean Christian singers and bands, though they’re not as commercialised as K-Pop is. Unfortunately, the Korean government chose the worldlier of the two. In fairness, K-Pop is pretty catchy. I’m not sure about the other genres, since I haven’t listened to those. But I personally feel even if it’s possible to turn ballad and Trot singers into idols, in fact it’s already the case with other people, but K-Pop’s worse off because of how systematic, calculating and deliberate this is.

There’s something oddly methodical about the way K-Pop idolatry is encouraged, in a way it doesn’t seem to be with other genres, but because I don’t know the others much either. South Korea might not be unique in this regard as this is shared with other countries, most notably America which South Korea apes from. America being Mystery Babylon is also going to be a negative influence to everybody and anybody else in the world, not helped by that it’s a major hegemon at this point. It’s quite possible that there are some American musicians that are just as methodical in enabling idolatry as others do.

Not just rock musicians, but also pop musicians. But the spade will always be a spade, regardless if it’s American, Korean or not.

Idle worship

I feel DC and Marvel don’t get much flack from Christians for enabling idolatry in people, even though that’s what they’ve been doing for years. It’s obvious when Marvel calls its devoted readers and viewers true believers, where they take so much time and energy on cartoon characters like Spider-Man and Wolverine when they could’ve have more time for God is practically idolatry. There’s spiritually no getting around it because that’s what it is, if you’ve replaced God with Superman in your heart and mind it’s no different. But I suspect that both DC and Marvel don’t get much flack compared to tired suspects like Catholicism and Harry Potter, since they seem more harmless to most Evangelicals even though the problem of idolatry remains the same with them.

It could even be said that both of them constitute socially acceptable forms of idolatry, given they don’t have the same baggage as the latter two do. So it’s less common for Evangelicals to criticise the two, even though they do the same things really. Somebody on Reddit wrote that it has a lot to do with Christians being really worldly people, who appear to have far lower standards of what’s edifying and sanctifying to the soul than they realise. Perhaps this might really explain why Evangelicals barely give a toss about DC and Marvel encouraging idolatry of their characters and brands, even if that’s what they do often and it has to be called out for what it really is.

When one thinks about it, given how DC and Marvel make people do anything and everything to buy their products that things like statuettes constitute graven images and idols. They may even be idols in the historical sense of the word, given they’re made out of something instead of being mystically experiential as it is with the biblical God. As what this Redditor pointed out, many Christians have shockingly poor discernment that they openly indulge in filth for as long as it’s socially acceptable filth. It’s not a matter of apples and oranges, but comparing green apples to red apples. It’s like thinking green apples are less sinful than red apples, because they don’t appear to be used by the Devil. Just as a spade remains a spade, a green apple is still an apple.

An idol will always be an idol, regardless if it’s Harry Potter, Virgin Mary or Supergirl. It would be practically calling evil good if you don’t call out Superman idolatry for what it is, not helped by that many Christians are kind of spiritually illiterate. I also have this nagging suspicion that within Christian circles certain things are practically socially acceptable idols, it could be something that doesn’t irritate them as much so they fly under the radar. Even if the problem and the sin remain the same, regardless if it’s Batman or Saint Michael.

Ain’t No Hero

He ain’t no hero but a golden

Calf for many people who think

He is, God’s not pleased with

Them, going to take him away.

No more idols

A rather harsh word to say to K-Pop fans and their ilk, but this has to be said because for a Northeast Asian country with the largest Christian population there, it has a habit of enabling idolatry if it weren’t for the plurality of entertainment companies encouraging and enabling this sin/vice/shortcoming. The K-Pop industry will be dealt with a harsh hand, because it’s guilty of this habit in such a country like South Korea. While Japan might also be judged for not being Christian sooner, it’s South Korea’s fault for not investing a lot more in evangelising to its neighbours (Japan, included) that it will be invaded by North Korea in the near future. The Philippines is just as culpable, especially when it comes to its own entertainment industry, as well as its habit of aligning so much with America/Mystery Babylon that it will also be judged for its sins.

God will strike the K-Pop idols down in many, many ways to keep people from worshipping them, not only that but there will be more scandals in the K-Pop industry than one realises. You have these K-Pop producers and executives consecrating these albums and musicians to the Devil, K-Pop idols also do the same thing which is why what they’re doing is so brazen and shameless. It’s right there in the loanword: idol, this speaks for itself. If you’re a Christian, this needn’t a further explanation because it is what it is. The K-Pop industry will be brought down to its knees, similar industries like P-Pop will be brought down too for encouraging this vice. There’s a demon principality behind both Korea and the Philippines, which keeps people from worshipping God. This is the demon principality both Korean and Philippine celebrities consecrate themselves to.

This is a demon principality that makes Filipinos and Koreans do heinous things, prevailing a lot in their entertainment industries. Avoid K-Pop bands, remove K-Pop songs from your playlists and the like because they’re consecrated to this principality. Anybody who listens to K-Pop further than they’ve been warned to will be cursed, because this stuff is consecrated to demons. Many K-Pop musicians are possessed by demons, worship these same demons and do heinous stuff. Avoid them right now! This is going to be like the verse where Paul says that even if he could’ve eaten this meat, if this meat is consecrated to an idol, then he’s not going to eat it. Better to avoid K-Pop than to indulge in idolatry any longer.

A malicious mouse

Remember what Analia Campbell said about Walt Disney’s deal with the Devil? Makes one wonder if his company’s wholesome reputation was a facade it tends to keep up with, but couldn’t always contain it in any way it likes (to some people) that it seems its baser tendencies would show up from time to time. One would wonder further if something like Hell’s Bells is the smoking gun, as if Uncle Walt himself instructed his staff to do a cartoon based on none other than the Devil himself. It’s even more terrifying that some of Walt’s own relatives were Christians that it seems he deliberately caved into the father of lies and rebellion to get to where he was.

One would only wonder if there’s anything that’s everything his company strives to be, if something like this will ever show up in the future. Campbell also said that there are demons in Disneyland and similar theme parks, to the point where it could be said that they’re cursed. One would wonder if this is why accidents and tragedies frequently happen at what’s ironically called the Happiest Place on Earth, an interesting corollary is what if something else really is the happiest place on earth? It could be whatever person thinks makes them happy, but at least one that doesn’t have the same baggage the Disney theme parks have. There’s a report about a little boy who drowned and died at a Disney theme park.

So it really is cursed, so cursed that it’s enough to befall the youngest and most vulnerable of us all. It’s not necessarily wrong to like and enjoy theme parks, but I feel the Disney parks have spiritually a lot of baggage that they’re not worth visiting. Especially if you don’t want either yourself or somebody else get hurt, killed or whatever befalls either one of you or both, that perhaps a real happiest place on earth is each to one’s own for as long as it edifies people. Not to mention California is going to be under judgement for unleashing so much evil to the world that it’s going to get destroyed, Disneyland included, which would and should be the last of it.

But that’s not all, even Florida’s going to drown and get destroyed too for similar reasons. So this will be the last of Walt Disney World. Even if other theme parks aren’t any better, Disney parks have the baggage of being the creations of somebody who sold their soul to the Devil that they’re going to be cursed anyways. While it’s not necessarily wrong to like and enjoy Disney products, but you can tell a tree by its fruit or something like that. There are some good fruits out there, but most of them are bad. Perhaps if some other company were to challenge and even usurp Disney as the number one supplier of family entertainment, it could be God’s way of undoing Walt’s legacy.

Because Walt Disney is a man who gave into the Devil for fame and fortune, it’s overdue for his legacy to be undone because it’s no good in the long run. Especially when it comes to his theme park being so cursed as to cause so much misfortune for other people, honestly I’m not sure if there’s a large Satanic altar in any Disney theme park. Freemasons perhaps, but it’s still just as bad. There’s some evidence pointing out to Walt’s sympathies for such an organisation that he joined the junior wing: DeMolay. The rabbit hole gets deeper and nastier as we delve further into what his company ended up bringing to the table, including one about the Antichrist or perhaps two.

Then comes the Omen series, also about the Antichrist, which it acquired from Fox. If you can tell a tree by its fruit or perhaps vice versa, one would wonder if this is what Disney’s been doing all along as a company. Not to mention I had the misfortune of listening to a song on Radio Disney which was done by AC/DC, a band that’s no stranger to referencing and even honouring the Devil a lot. I even had this prophecy that the Walt Disney Company will one day kill Christians, like it’s going to bring a spiritual version of the Bubonic plague to God’s people. It already has when it comes to the unsaved, but killing practising Christians is grimly next level.

I believe Walt Disney is the sort of man who’d give into the world to get to where he is at, but at the cost of his relationship with God if he really has any at all. Like I said before that Walt had religious relatives, but I feel his relationship with his father emboldened him to defy God whilst pretending to be a Christian himself. This is likely why the Disney company seems to be getting worse because it came from a poisoned well: that of a man who made a deal with the Devil to get rich and famous and to corrupt children with. Not necessarily because he’s a paedophile or anything of that matter, but that he never came off as somebody who genuinely likes God and only does lip service.

While it doesn’t seem bad to want fame and fortune at first, it seems Walt Disney is so desperate for it that he got what he wanted from the Devil but one that cost him his relationship with God and so on. His wife had multiple miscarriages that they ended up adopting anyways, not to mention despite proclaiming his faith in God he wanted that Christian film of his (which revolved around Simon Peter) to bomb and so it did. His company actively forbids people from mentioning God that it’s not surprising why it’s gotten so immoral over the years, why the Disney parks are so cursed that misfortune happens fairly often there. True, not everybody has a bad experience with those.

But could any other theme park suffice, given they may not have the same baggage? While there certainly are mega-Looney Tunes fans out there who buy almost any merchandise featuring their favourite characters, the way Disney encourages consumerism and materialism in its fans is practically idolatrous. If Walt made a deal with the Devil then it makes his desire to make people commit idolatry all the more blatant and harmful, especially with making them buy whatever merchandise they can find featuring Mickey, Donald and friends. It’s not necessarily wrong to have some Disney merchandise, but the way Disney enables its fans to do it is pushing it too far.

While not all Disney fans are this materialistic, thankfully enough but I feel Walt would rather have people be of the world than simply being in it. Perhaps it’s not a good thing in hindsight because while it’s good to expand your business and go with the times/flow, I feel the way Disney does these things is too excessive to not be idolatrous in any way. Perhaps Walt got more than what he wanted, for as long as his master is the Devil, but it’s kind of Faustinian in this light.

Bad to the bone, I dare say.

Games People Play, Night or Day

There’s some controversy over the recent opening ceremony for the Olympics, most notably when a bunch of drag queens did a rather blasphemous version of the Last Supper. I feel at this point where people, even Christians like myself (from time to time), use God’s name in vain yet if one were to say something contrarian about people like Lady Gaga and/or Taylor Swift, people will be up in flames if somebody said that ‘hurr, durr Lady Gaga sucks’. The bad thing about parasocial relationships is that because they’re so one-sided because the celebrity doesn’t reciprocate their fan’s admiration for them often, that the fan develops an idealised version of the celebrity they love.

It could be anything else really but it seems like having a relationship with God feels more tangible, because even if God’s invisible most of the time (throughout human history and if one doesn’t see a visual representation of him from time to time), at least God responds even if it’s not always for the better but it’s more reciprocal and transactional than one gets with a celebrity they actually see even in the flesh. If you dare point out to some Backstreet Boys fans that somebody like Nick Carter has done something wrong, that they’re out to defend him and attack you if you do or point out that they themselves have done something wrong. At least with Christianity and God, there’s a lot more going on for them.

To the point where it’s really worth defending, but it’s not just that. God will defend his people, even if they screw up from time to time and has the ability to restore things. Maybe not always in a way we like, but at least God understands and does respond. He can even give us more than what we wanted, or something better than we imagine. Celebrities, being human, don’t always know what’s best for us. Especially when it comes to spiritual matters that unless if they are used by God or are faithful Christians themselves, they do things that are harmful to everybody and even themselves. I think the Backstreet Boys are guilty of this, because Brian Littrell never found a way to convert people to God he risks losing more lives this way.

So the average Backstreet Boy fan is spiritually dead, whereas Brian Littrell has lost himself to the world because he wants fame and adoration more than he wants God. It’s not a nice thing to say but that’s being honest because that’s what he’s been doing, since he never bothers making people read or watch anything related to Christianity and God other than music that he could easily be inwardly wicked. Not to mention, more people will die from a sickness worse than coronavirus. How horrifying and embarrassing of people to not only turn away from God, but deify wicked and questionable characters like if you dare point out their faults they’ll say that you hate them, something like that.

How people choose to love and live in darkness, rather than love and live in the light. Even worse is the Christian who lives in darkness and never repents or learns from it in any way, that they’re going to be far worse off for it because of the path they’ve taken. How much more terrible if a self-proclaimed Christian like Brian Littrell continues to chase fan adoration and never bothering to introduce people to Christianity through whatever means necessary that’s not musical. I even said before that Littrell never seems to make people read the Bible, listen to sermons and read devotionals, in fact he never makes his fans read anything relating to Christianity with the hopes of converting them.

One would only wonder if by siding a lot more with the world than with God, Littrell has effectively abandoned his first love for good that it would be horrifying if he and his bandmates were to show up as devils in a concert one day. Who does he really serve in earnest? I feel we live in a world where anything relating to Christianity gets mocked and treated less seriously, whereas you’re not allowed to point out what Nick Carter has been doing that’s wrong without people coming over to defend him. You can’t even convict Brian Littrell without either fan indifference or possible fan aggression, because it seems Littrell himself has enabled this more than he should.

No wonder why they’ve been facing scandals lately, with more soon to come with one being involved in adultery and another with sex trafficking. Not to mention, no matter how likable these people are they’re inwardly evil and should never be held as role models in any way.

Its crazy to me how “fans” think they know these celebrities so well that they would believe or deny anything that’s being said. Or idolize them so much that even when the truth reveals itself, they still don’t want to believe it. This is why the bible says don’t take no idols. Their truth self will never be clear to us. If, as regular everyday people, we have flaws, some have demons, what makes a famous person so clean and clear. Stop making your fantasy, the reality. Walk in your truth and stay quiet about others you dont truly know. Just a perspective.

Space Jam

Celestial recently posted a video about how some athletes, especially somebody like LeBron James, aren’t who you think they are. While it’s true not all basketball players are involved in Freemasonry and the occult, but a good number of those in the NBA are. If there’s at least one study about Cameroonian footballers being involved in the occult, despite not all footballers and even other Cameroonian footballers being this involved either, then this would be the same for their counterparts in basketball. It’s not necessarily wrong to like basketball, football, animation, cats, dogs and fashion for as long as you don’t make them into idols.

It’s not wrong to play basketball or football or any other sport, if these bring you joy and happiness then power to you. But when it comes to LeBron James calling himself ‘King James’ as in the other King James who at least cowrote the Bible, it seems as if he’s not only blaspheming God but is also so arrogant as to esteem himself higher than he should be. Admittedly, I’m prone to pride from time to time and this is hard for me to admit. It’s not necessarily wrong to like basketball, but the problem lies with turning basketball and basketballers into idols, which is the gist of her message.

(Interestingly, LeBron James starred in the box office flop Space Jam 2, the sequel to the original Space Jam film.)

I feel this should also serve as a warning to many Filipinos, because of how popular basketball is in the Philippines The Philippines is a Christian nation but it shouldn’t be serving idols, in fact it shouldn’t be idolising basketballers much either and in particular. If it’s bad enough that its favourite nation America has been indulging in so much idolatry as to warrant packing away from God, it’s really horrible that the Philippines would rather follow its disastrous missteps. So much so that the Philippines will suffer some of the same problems that America will be facing, because both of them disobeyed the Lord.

Not to mention it’s very, very tolerant of homosexuality, which is a sin to the Lord no matter how a lot of countries (and especially Christian majority countries) legalise it. It’s like this song by Sean Paul called ‘We Be Burning’ with the lyrics ‘legalise it, time to recognise it’, which is what many Christian-majority countries ended up doing with homosexuality. If it’s more natural for women to be attracted to men, it should be logical that they should find men attractive. But the world has distorted this, to the point of purposefully engineering more lesbians and bisexual women than it should be by the Lord.

I even said that if a woman is struggling with her same-sex attraction, then people should do a better job at making her defeat these impulses if she doesn’t want to act on it anymore. But this involves taking away the offending materials that might entice her into doing it again, something that she doesn’t want to do anymore. All this ‘women are sexy, so women find them sexy’ has created far more lesbians than even sports ever has, especially when it comes to sexual attraction then it’s unnatural for women to be attracted to other women, which is what she’s saying.

Then we move onto idolatry, another affront to the Lord. I even think DC and Marvel are very guilty of enabling this onto unsuspecting people in their formative years, that if you’re exposed to a lot of DC and Marvel stories in your childhood that there’s a chance they’ve groomed you to idolise the characters they have and the stories their writers tell. It may not be the case for other people but this is particularly so for a good number of DC and Marvel fans, where you have these people growing up with these characters and then writing pornographic stories about them in some way. I could’ve done something similar before, mind you.

It’s not hard to see why I believe geek fandoms are basically all forms of concentrated idolatry, especially with all the time that could’ve been spent on worshipping God is wasted on cartoon characters. It’s not necessarily wrong to want to catch up with something, since it’s like that with me when it comes to devotionals and Bible verses. But there’s something off about the way DC and Marvel engineer things as a way to deepen fans’ devotion to their characters and brands, that it comes off as spiritually unhealthy and unsound. The Backstreet Boys are very guilty of this, made worse by that Brian Littrell never bothered finding a way to share the Gospel or his faith with fans that isn’t music.

He never bothered finding a way to pique people’s interest in something Christian (adjacent), even if he’s called to evangelise to people and find a way to get them worshipping God instead. But he’d rather be of the world where it’s easier for him to indulge in his fans’ adulation of his band and himself, rather than dedicating himself to actually making them read something Christian related even if it takes baby steps. If it took baby steps for me to get back to God by reading up on those been to hell testimonies, articles and monasteries and animals and eventually devotionals, then Littrell could’ve easily done this to his fans in some way. It’s probably a good thing Hanson lost some of their fans, given they were brought up to be Christian.

Better to risk losing face in front of your fans when dedicating yourself to God, than it is to keep fans and lose face in front of God. So Zac Hanson ended up doing something far greater as a preacher than he would as a musician, given he was brought up in a Christian household that it’s better for him to dedicate his life to the church than make people worship him. So Hansongate is a blessing in disguise to get Zac Hanson back on track when it comes to worshipping the Creator, than being worshipped by fans a lot. If God could find a way to bring people back to him, he’ll find any means of making it happen when he sees fit.

It’s like that with me where I backslided a couple of times, before becoming really addicted to those been to hell testimonies on Seek First, articles about animals in Christianity and then reading a lot of devotionals later on. It’s not an easy path, but it’s worth getting back to God. Anyways this is my commentary on what Celestial has been saying in her vlogs, since she doesn’t seem to be blogging at this point. In lieu of posting further links to her blog posts, I’ll be posting links to and then commentating on her sermons and prophecies instead.

Falling Away From Me

Celestial had a prophecy where more and more people will fall away from God, although this is probably already being fulfilled to an extent these days. Especially in the west where it’s not only home to rapid secularisation (at least in some countries), but also where paganism is being revived and in the case with fandom, we have new forms of idolatry around. Some even have religious pretensions, especially whenever they refer to their fansites as shrines. I feel there ought to be more bile against geek fandoms like one would with Catholicism, especially when pertaining to idolatry as they’re morally and scripturally equivalent. If it’s idolatry to do graven images of say Jesus, then it’s no different if it’s Superman.

But that would mean there are other, much worthier targets of Christian ire that it can’t just be the usual punching bags that are at fault. Anything else is at fault too as this is a fallen world, that the Devil can take advantage of our spots is telling. I feel the Devil is far too smart for us to realise or understand in any way, especially when it comes to encouraging idolatry that it needn’t to be Catholicism or even sports to do the trick. There are other things he can use for us to make idols out of, it could be something like DC Comics and it’s something this publisher has been and is always culpable in enabling this. Same goes for Marvel, especially when it comes to the ‘true believers’ part.

It’s rarely ever brought up in many Evangelical circles, even when DC and Marvel are just as guilty, because I think superheroes look pretty innocent but that makes them more deceptive. If the Devil is this deceptive, then something seemingly innocent would work in his favour. This makes the superhero genre pretty convenient for this as it’s something Christians seldom find any issue with, far less than they do with both Catholicism and Harry Potter. Even if I’m not a fan of Harry Potter, I feel it can’t be the only story with anti-Christian values. Since something like X-Men is just as guilty of, though criticised less for it. To my knowledge, HP never had a church getting destroyed.

But that’s preferable to where churches get destroyed, where anything biblical is mocked and where pastors are portrayed as suspect as what X-Men writers have been doing. For every writer who does become a Christian at all (including some authors behind detectives, who may one day write these characters as married Christians or something), there are those who are in the world whether as atheists or into witchcraft as it is with Grant Morrison and Alan Moore. Somebody else has put out a series about this, though none yet about X-Men even if it’s actually more culpable than Harry Potter will ever be. Spiritually speaking and why we shouldn’t trust those longer.

Stan

Celestial has said many times over that America is Mystery Babylon, and in here it’s Mystery Babylon for enabling the sin or vice of idolatry. As God is a jealous God, it would be hard to not make him jealous when we turn to something else. I personally think some charges about idolatry should be best applied to secular fandoms, which makes much more sense since I see fandom as concentrated idolatry. It’s not necessarily wrong to like something, for as long as it doesn’t overshadow your faith in and love for God. It’s not wrong to like cats, dogs, football, rugby, foreign countries and so on. Though the hardest part is not make them into idols.

I feel what America has done is to enable so much idolatry of almost everything and anything that it’s going to be punished by the Lord for doing this, despite proclaiming itself to be a Christian nation and it gets worse when you have otherwise self-proclaimed Christians like Brian Littrell enabling this in some way. It would be super horrifying if he and his bandmates have the audacity to dress up as demons in a concert in Mexico, one would only wonder who Brian Littrell is more loyal to. He may sing about praising God, but at times he doesn’t do as he should’ve been told to. Perhaps this is the natural outcome of him enabling idolatry of his band a lot.

There are other musicians who’ve done the same, but I think it would be more shameful if it was a Christian doing this. Gerard Way may not be a Christian, at least not yet, but for most of the part he doesn’t know any better. Brian Littrell should know better as he’s a Christian, he should know that idolatry is a sin and that pride is also a sin. But I don’t think it’s something he’ll be comfortable realising, if because he actually likes the attention his fans give to his band a lot.

Burk Parsons dodged a bullet by refusing to join the Backstreet Boys and became a pastor instead, he himself has his own demons from time to time. The only real difference is that he strives to do better by God, while he never became a famous musician he’s done better by actually introducing people to something spiritually substantial as a pastor. We may not be called to ministry but it’s best to introduce people to God, than to wallow in being worshipped as an idol ourselves no matter how tempting it is.

I admit being prone to time from time to time, though it’s something Littrell fell into and he got really deep into it. I said before that he never seems to make fans read the Bible and devotionals, never makes them listen to sermons in whatever medium they appear in and take them to church. He’d rather invite them over to Backstreet Boys sponsored cruises and concerts, than to actually take them to church to worship the Creator. Perhaps him turning to the Devil is an inevitable consequence of his own pride and enabling his fans’ idolatry of himself and the band, if because the Devil himself is very proud and resides in the world.

It’s easier to talk about Donald Trump, Taylor Swift and Beyonce enabling idolatry of themselves as they’re relevant to more people these days, but I think the Backstreet Boys deserve more mention if because what they’re doing is more shameful because they have a Christian member. That shows if you have somebody who should know better, but don’t do anything about it then it’s on them for turning themselves into a stumbling block for others. Christians shouldn’t cause others to sin, however hard it may be at times, it seems Brian Littrell took the path of least resistance. Perhaps the world is too strong for him to resist in any way, which proves my point about him.

It should also be noted that Disney and Warner Bros are pretty guilty of enabling idolatry in people, not just with the usual suspects but also something more unexpected like superheroes. Sort of like how Stan Lee co-opted the whole ‘true believers’ thing from Christians when he applied this label to diehard Marvel readers, though at some point he actually considered doing a line of Christian superhero comics and stories. That could work to some extent, especially with something like Power Mark. But I suspect a superhero who bothers to forgive their enemies, believes in God and is rarely ever violent in any way is a harder sell than a superhero who acts vindictively and gets into a fight because they can.

So it seems despite Lee’s good intentions, Marvel has more staying power than his proposed Christian superhero imprint. Easier to enable somebody’s idolatry and satiating it perpetually than to lead them to God, no matter how uncomfortable or preachy it would be and get. DC’s no different in some, though similar regards with one editor rejecting one writer’s proposal to turn one superheroine into a Christian, I personally feel Gail Simone is somebody who does respect and understand Christianity well despite being secular. She can be considered an ally, one who’s an ally to Christians which is increasingly rare in the realm of storytelling as time passes.

If Narnia is any indication, it’s possible to have a religious story and still have any renown outside of religious circles though Narnia’s biggest fans are always Christians. So DC and Marvel go for the easy way out by pandering to somebody’s idolatry, satiating them a lot and enabling them in ways where and when it shouldn’t be, than to make them actively seek out God in hard times like these and those. The path to least resistance is what they undertook, this is what they ended up with and why they do anything to reward people’s idolatry of their products. It’s not wrong to like DC and Marvel, or even Disney and Looney Tunes.

The real problem lies with turning them into idols, but this is something they ended up enabling a lot. Instead of stories where a character like Cassandra Cain does become a Christian and quit a life of violence for good, it’s easier to keep people hooked on their favourite characters a lot without making them read the Bible in some way or another. Perhaps telling them about sin is a particularly heavy pill to swallow, one that’s too bitter to be easily digested by many secular people.

While Christians shouldn’t preach to the choir that much, in fact they’re called to preach to many unbelievers and help them on their path to worshipping God. But then again they’re also pressured to not rock the boat, that’s to hammer the nail that stands out too much, to cut the tall poppy because it’s getting too preachy. Enabling somebody else’s idolatry is one example of the path of least resistance, spiritually speaking.

Disney pretty much developed a habit of enabling somebody’s idolatry for years, to the point of creating the Disney adult and from a business perspective, this is an excellent example of brand loyalty implanted since childhood. But from a spiritual perspective, with Walt Disney being bent on destroying anything Christian, that the well is poisoned even if it’s possible to love Disney products from afar. That’s by not turning Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse and Carl Barks into idols, but Disney would rather encourage people’s idolatry of its products and characters. It will do anything to enable it, no matter how spiritually unhealthy it is.

Disney is one of those companies that perfected the art of brand loyalty with a lot of people, that people will try out anything Disney-related because it encourages this a lot. Not just with Disney merchandise, divisions, brands and the like but also other things like Radio Disney, which is still a thing in many Latin American countries to this day oddly enough. Disney will find ways of keeping people interested in it in some fashion, which if done carelessly would enable somebody’s idolatry of Disney or a certain Disney product. Unfortunately, it would be that easy to swing into that direction, no wonder why it’s perilous for Christians.

It’s not necessarily wrong to like Disney products, the best a Christian can do is to love them from a distance. That’s by not making it into an idol, even if it’s not always easy sometimes. Anything else really, because God gets jealous real easily. But it’s much easier to lead somebody to sin, sometimes deliberately not just with porn and gluttony. But also idolatry especially when it comes to the very nature of every secular fandom around, it’s not wrong to like sports and it’s not necessarily wrong to love athletes for as long as you pray for their salvation then God will take care of the rest. It’s also not wrong to like comics, video games and film though not all of them edify somebody spiritually.

There are too many things that Americans make an idol out of, sometimes it’s the innocuous stuff like cats and dogs as well as sports and science. Sometimes it’s the more dubious stuff we should steer away from like certain celebrities and stories, especially if they don’t glorify God in any way. It’s not necessarily wrong to like cats and dogs, but the trick here is to not be too obsessive over them. So you have grounded dog owners who do see their dogs as mere animals, rather than substitute humans where they know this is where it gets worrying when they’re treated as proxies for people. The problem is Americans have glorified these things, worshipping the creature instead of the Creator.

No sooner or later we’ll get a series of Jezebel like situations where dogs turn against their owners by eating them, a comeuppance for what these people have done and arguably a case of God using the wicked to punish the wicked since dogs don’t seem to be esteemed that highly in the Bible. If he has done this to Jezebel before, then he will do it to women similar to her when he needs to. It’s not necessarily wrong to like dogs, the Bible does have some instances of dogs being used for good though depending on the Bible verse and also edition of the Bible. But this is tempered by a recurring suspicion, so the precipice of turning them into idols is something writers knew too well.

Known Babylon, as I’d like to call it, was a major hotbed of idolatry that would’ve easily tempted God’s people at any point. It made idols out of dogs, anything and everything which sounds like what a supposedly Christian country like America ended up doing, except that other people don’t recognise many secular fandoms for what they really are: concentrated idolatry where one would do anything to attend to fandom activities and meetings where one would do with churchgoing and worshipping God.

Things like comic books, fantasy novels and video games have been treated as a sort of religious text with fans co-opting religious terminology like canon. Canon as in it meant whatever that is officially part of the Bible, biblical canon would vary depending on the denomination where some editions of the Bible would officially include texts like the Book of Tobit and the Maccabees, others like the Book of Enoch and some just have them as apocrypha.

They have their place, but it’s not the main place. There are people who argue that Christianity is a fandom but whenever fandom tries to bring Christianity to its level, if God is like a king then fandom’s like a pretender to the throne. It claims pretensions to the king but has no official relation to him whatsoever, this is why God is referred to as a father, his church is like a bride and family, why nuns and monks are referred to as brothers and sisters. Fandom is really a commoner wanting to be recognised as part of a royal family, but it’s never noble and it’s never going to be royal if you get the pun. So it’s better to recognise fandom for what it is, that’s being concentrated idolatry.

It’s calling the spade for what it really is to the Lord, so we shouldn’t pussyfoot around its true nature. When you have people who spend a lot of their time not just watching Good Omens, but also making a lot of fanworks around it with virtually no time for the Lord then it is idolatrous. Many geek fandoms are practically idolatrous, though it takes a brave soul to call them out for what they actually are. It’s not necessarily wrong to love characters like Catwoman, Batman and Superman but one would have to draw the line at worshipping them like one would with the Lord, so this is something one would have to tread carefully as Christians.

God is jealous, so we shouldn’t make him jealous even though sometimes we do anyways. It’s not going to be easy, given human nature being sinful, but the best we can do is to ask for repentance from God and learn from our mistakes, however hard and shameful it may be.

Jealousy, Jealousy

Celestial said that a good number of American Evangelicals have made an idol out of Donald Trump, to the point of making God so jealous that he’s going to take him out once and for all. It’s like how many Evangelicals believe that Trump has been sent by God to deal with America’s problems, when in reality he promoted himself there and manages to manipulate people into loving him more. I feel among many Evangelicals, there’s the belief that he’s one of us. Even though in reality he fails to be a good Christian, does things that are anti-Christian and so on.

It’s even odder still how a number of Evangelicals hate presidents who follow God’s teachings well like Jimmy Carter, yet they give Donald Trump grace for whatever he does. When it comes to Donald Trump, they’ve lowered their standards to satiate his pride or something. Very low standards at other times when it comes to Donald Trump, but it’s easier for Evangelicals to be swayed by a cheating braggart than by a Christian who lives up to Godly laws and expectations. That a Christian often risks being rejected by their community and family would reveal the real reason why Trump has this following.

Donald Trump isn’t so much of a King Cyrus but rather a King Saul: an amoral king who befits an amoral community, that’s why scandals keep on piling on top of each other the more they attract Trump to them. It is possible that Donald Trump may have been sent to them, but the more they make an idol out of him the more God will take him away. Mostly for what they’ve done to who was once God’s gift, the sins they keep on committing that no sooner or latter Trump will be gone. He will be shot to death by liberals, who can’t stand him wanting to be president again.

Celestial even said that Kamala Harris will become US president instead, especially once Joe Biden gets sent to the nursing home and then die. Donald Trump will get a different comeuppance, mostly due to his pride that he’s never going to make it out alive. He wallows in pride for as long as people make an idol out of him, that this is the real reason why God will take him away when he does.
