Not as pristine and clean

When it comes to what became of Taylor Swift over the years, she started out as having this girl next door persona she cultivated and strove to live up to early on, but the more she turned out to dump one man after another over the years, the more it seemed too unattainable to keep up with in any way. Taylor Swift even developed a habit of dressing in a more sexualised manner, something that was unthinkable in the early days of her career. It’s weird to think that the person championed as the opposite of her more sexualised peers when she started out in the late 2000s ended up joining them in a way, something that would’ve been unthinkable even to Taylor Swift herself at some point. But it’s also true that the image she cultivated turned out to be unsustainable in the long run that by reinventing herself, she’s trying to shed that wholesome skin off her body.

It’s like how I feel about Nick Carter is that there’s a difference between the persona he cultivates and how he acts on a really bad day, if you believe people like Kaya Jones and Shannon Ruth. Or how and why I believe Harry Styles might be much more mild-mannered than his public image suggests, like a Freudian slip the mild-mannered version sometimes shows through in ways he never intended. But I don’t know much about Mr Styles so this is pure speculation, even then there’s a possibility that entertainers themselves don’t always live up to the public personas they cultivated over the years, that unwanted versions of them slip through. Nick Carter might not be that nice in person, Taylor Swift turned out to be not that wholesome, Harry Styles might not be much of a bad boy in person. It’s truly obvious that Swift can’t consistently live up to the persona she cultivated early on.

Not only did she turn out to be rather flirty, she also became more openly potty-mouthed in her songs. It would be darkly ironic to think that there might be somebody out there who might out-Taylor Swift Taylor Swift herself, not just in music but also in personality themselves that it would be shocking if people found out about them. In the same way people like Gerard Way are nearly everything fans make Nick Carter out to be, given how and why Nick’s been accused of rape over the years, coupled with him allegedly having affairs with women other than his wife that it seems if Nick Carter had never joined the Backstreet Boys and went on with his misogyny, he would’ve been more inclined towards the Alt-Right instead. Like if he was a young man in the 2010s and never joined a boy band, he would’ve gravitated towards Gamergate and would actively harass any feminist he finds. He’d make a lot of videos complaining about feminism, essentially a white Eric July by then.

Given Nick Carter’s an avid gamer and video games themselves have frequent issues with sexism over the years, that these would have a bearing on the way he perceives women to be. Especially those that sexualise women a lot, even if video games don’t always influence people for the worst. But when you have people getting into game development because of having played video games at some point, writing fanfictions based on games like Mortal Kombat and Super Mario, creating fanmade characters based on these two games and so on, then video games are going to impact people anyways. Not always for good or ill, but it’s going to be there anyways. Nick Carter likely played more risque games at some point, so there are going to be things fans don’t know about because he himself keeps it private to not spoil his public image to people. There are things Taylor Swift wouldn’t show to her fans, for fear it might ruin their perception of her. It’s debatable whether if Swift practises witchcraft herself.

But it’s also true that she’s nowhere as wholesome as she made herself out to be early on, her reputation as a role model has been questioned before. It seems the image Taylor Swift she cultivated for herself early on turned out to be utterly unsustainable in the long run, that it seems there was a gap between Taylor Swift the real person and Taylor Swift the persona. They seem to blur because it’s clear she’s not everything she strove to be at the start, perhaps celebrities in general aren’t who they make themselves out to be. To the point where the very faults they suppress shine through in unexpected places and times.

To be fair

There are fans who’re aware of their favourite celebrity’s faults or at least know where they’ve done wrong. Among fans of the singer Britney Spears, there exists a contingent who admit that she used to sound better before and think she’s made to sing this way (which might be half-true in my own opinion if somebody made her do this way).

Or for another matter, some fans of Christian Aguilera who think that she did sing badly at some point. As for Spears fans, they do know she used to sing better and I think they do have a point about the decline of her singing voice. But these aren’t the only ones aware of their celebrities’ faults, it’s possible to like a celebrity and still know where they’ve done wrong.

In one review, even a Lady Gaga fan admitted she did wrong and I suspect that involves either feeling disappointed, surprised or hurt about where they’ve done wrong so.

Embracing suffering

I’ve come to embrace suffering and be empathetic to those who suffer, I even said that suffering doesn’t even spare the rich and famous where it could be King David who suffered from a child’s death, John’s depression, Jesus paining on the Cross or celebrities struggling with mental illness, poor health (including allergies, that has to be considered) and losses in their lives that has to be considered more often.

You could be a rich and famous celebrity but still fall victim to termite attacks, depression, loss of friends and family and never-ending battle with asthma that suffering doesn’t spare the famous and wealthy. It’s all around us in some fashion or another, whether if it’s the athlete or nurse being abused and misunderstood, celebrities struggling with losses and mental health issues or physical health problems like allergies.

Job suffered a lot in life, he lost many possessions, he got sick and made mistakes so do many celebrities really and I think suffering has to be considered, whether if it’s the logical consequence of an action or a trial to test one’s faith, that’s to be regarded and contemplated on. Even celebrities suffer a lot in pain, mental or physical that has to be empathised with.

Suffering doesn’t stop

I do think even with all the blessings, suffering doesn’t stop and I think this needs more consideration where let’s say you lose your spouse, child and belongings to a fire that God can take away your blessings and have you suffer to come closer to him.

Dozens of celebrities have dealt with losses, mental and physical illness and other problems that in a sense they still suffer for all their power and fame. Your child might be highly allergic to cats and dogs, your spouse’s dying from AIDS.

Suffering doesn’t stop, it’s an imperfect world and God can take away your blessings should you sin.

Pain and suffering

I do think pain and suffering does bring people closer to God, in the sense that if you lose something or somebody like a child or spouse there’s always God there with you in the tragedy. You lose something, you chose to be closer to him in the suffering.

Let’s say you lose many children and a spouse to a fire, but you survived the fire and you go to a church for safety. Job lost his family and possessions, he still survived the pain. King David suffered and survived the loss of a child.

Even some celebrities have suffered from illnesses and loss of a spouse or child, that suffering knows no boundaries.

Being rich and famous doesn’t help things

I still think Christians make idols out of blessings that it takes suffering and misfortune to draw them much closer to God, or at the very least an awareness of the problem by experiencing it firsthand. Let’s say your daughter’s suffering from cerebral palsy, your husband’s dying from AIDS and you suffer from infertility.

Tonnes of celebrities have battled or confronted problems before, whether if it’s miscarriage, alcoholism, drugs or porn addiction that they too suffer. No amount of fame, fortune and family stops them from having those problems that even King David suffered, he had wives and children but he suffered a lot.

You could be rich and famous, but still confront termites eating books, loss of a child or spouse, terrible allergies to cats and dogs that Christians tend to overlook these things in favour of idolatrous blessings.

Prosperity gospel and the problem of pain

One of the reasons why I don’t like the prosperity gospel’s because it ignores suffering as part of a Christian life, like say being rich and famous doesn’t stop books from being eaten by termites, getting cancer and even facing the death of a relative or spouse that in a sense even celebrities suffer.

Not so much to chastise them, but rather fame and fortune doesn’t stop suffering. You could be rich and still have a crippling allergy to cats and dogs where you can’t go there without risking hives and sneezing that it’s a living hell to deal with those creatures.

If prosperity gospel were true, then celebrities shouldn’t be having any of those problems but they still do have problems like allergies, schizophrenia and other common problems that needs more consideration.

Even celebrities suffer

When it comes to suffering, bear in mind even celebrities go through it whether if it’s the loss of a child, spouse, relative or their never-ending problems like schizophrenia, drug abuse and alcoholism. Job suffers, but so do some popular celebrities in the world.

Jesus suffered, so do some celebrities. Actually that bears repeating that not even fame and fortune spares people from experiencing pain and heartbreak in some ways, like you could be rich and risk losing things anyways. Wealth doesn’t stop termites from happening.

What does matter’s that being famous and rich doesn’t stop suffering, whether if it’s celebrities having miscarriages, infertility, alcoholism and even their items destroyed that suffering knows no boundaries.

Pop singer

A pop singer or two will convert to Christianity, where they help out the poor in Bangladesh and Pakistan, where they evangelise to people there and even helping them out and teaching them stuff. They’ll even help out the animals there, as well as bringing them resources to have.

They’ll quit the worldly lives to serve the poor before, they’ll give away money to the poor and then make sure they’re all safe and sound. Their fans pray for their singers’ salvation, now they do the saving and protecting lives themselves. The pop singers go on ministering to people, as they do it to please the Lord.

Star Power

I think in the future when some celebrities do convert to Christianity, somebody might use her star power to help the poor in let’s say China and Bangladesh, another helps her out in reaching out to and evangelising people there.

They’ll use their star power to help people out, which’s a big responsibility whenever they do evangelise to people at all and even to their fans. They might ditch anything worldly for anything holy and righteous, which’s a good sign of their conversion.
