While it’s not a nice thing to say, I feel like the Philippines is like a modern day Edom in the sense of forsaking God in favour of worldly gratification, sort of like what Esau did. Just as it was destinsed and prophesised for Jacob to have the upper hand over his brother, Indonesia will be given the upper hand over the Philippines but because the latter is backsliding a lot. Mired in LGBT and everything else that’s ungodly and unholy, the Philippines is on its way to becoming like Europe: a Christian past and a highly secularised future, but sped up for the Philippines. What took centuries for Europe to become secular will only take a few years for the Philippines to do the same, which means God’s judgement to this nation will come much sooner than expected.
The Philippines can’t go on like this, calling itself Christian but advocating the unholiest sins ever. I even prophesised that China will inevitably take over this country, so this is God’s comeuppance for what the Philippines wrought to itself. It’s in big trouble for condoning many things God despises like animal cruelty, child abuse, blasphemy (diyos ko, susmaryosep, ay sus), witchcraft, unbelief, LGBT, adultery, premarital sex, so on and so forth that the Chinese sword will never depart from Philippine homes. So the consequences will be long-lasting, the Philippines will actually be sinicised much faster than expected. But as a consequence of lying to itself that almost everything western will be revoked here in favour of something Chinese.
Like how Esau’s legacy got erased over time the more his descendants assimilated into other communities, whilst Jacob left a lasting legacy in not just Judaism and Palestine but also Christianity through Jesus. So Indonesia, being the Jacob nation, would live to see its culture intact well onto the future but Philippine culture will be deeply sinicised in such a short time in the future that it would be hard to believe that it was an American and Spanish colony before, so Filipinos are like the modern day Edomites. They forsook God’s blessing in favour of sinful gratification that inevitably they’ll assimilate into some other country’s culture, especially China’s, as a result of their collective sinning.
The current feminist rhetoric is the idea of someone owning her body, to the point where she’s free to do whatever she wants to do. But in Christian circles, the body is God’s temple. While humans have free will, they’re not always free from the consequences of doing certain things (something I’ve been through a lot so). When it comes to feminism, it’s not necessary wrong to have agency over what you do. The real trouble lies with whether or not those are even good decisions to begin with.
To put it this way, it’s like if somebody like PD James based a character after somebody she had a secret affair with for years that although she’s technically free to use them as inspiration for her stories, she’s not going to be free from the consequences like how they got divorced after their wife found out about that affair. Not to mention, if she kept it a secret for years then eventually it will be found out. Wait for journalists to uncover her secret letters to that person and her diaries.
It’s really going to shock people, like I said before you might say that PD James has the agency to choose which person to use as a muse. But she won’t be spared from the consequences of such an affair being found out that there’s a chance her awards would get revoked, that there will be journalistic investigations about that affair hellbent on discovering this person who inspired one of her characters and stories and stuff. As for immodesty, it kind of plays into it in some way.
It wouldn’t necessary tempt somebody to lust, but it’s going to be inappropriate as it makes you look worse than you intended to. You might not be promiscuous by simply dressing provocatively and playing with pornographic themes, but it does give people a bad impression of you that it seems even if you aren’t as promiscuous as they make you out to be. But if you want people to take you seriously and not see you as such, then you shouldn’t be doing it in the first place.
I have this example of such immodesty where if someone were to wear a transparent dress with no underwear on and is on the rag, then it’s going to be really embarrassing and disgusting because people can literally see through what you’re wearing during that time of the month. It may not make somebody lust, but it is distracting because of how horrible this really is. To the point where certain fashion trends aren’t worth following if you’re menstruating.
Like if the blood trickles down to your legs or leaves an obvious stain, then you have to clean it in due time and change into something less revealing the next time around. Kind of makes one wonder why wives are instructed to obey their husbands, especially if they might do things that make them and the relationship look bad. It could be anything like having crushes on celebrities (which God still sees as adultery, even when it doesn’t involve actual sex) and so on.
This is also why older women are instructed to teach and guide younger women, especially if they’re instructed to make them do something right. Like the whole immodesty thing, it seems for other women (including other Christian women) they’d rather wish to wear whatever they want to wear. Rather than heeding to somebody else’s advice, especially if it’s helpful and godly at that. But it’s easier to be disobedient and stupid.
So that’s why you have the whole I want to own my body thing, even though every body and any body belongs to God.
When it comes to the state of Contemporary Christian Music and more specifically Gospel Music, there’s a line between dressing well and dressing in a way that’s contrary to Biblical teachings. Though Celestial specifically mentioned wearing tight clothing, I do remember there was this news report about an African gospel singer who dresses skimpily. There were certainly people who objected to her fashion sense, being inappropriate for a Christian to do the same because she should know better. When it comes to modesty, it’s kind of sometimes hard for Christian women to live up to.
Especially if they’re often pressured to be trendy or fashionable in some way, even if it goes against their conscience and what the Bible says. Don’t give into sin or else face the consequences, or something like that. Actually this kind of dressing’s not always popular nor even condoned, whether if it’s Muslim-majority countries like Egypt and Iran or polytheistic countries like Japan. In the case with the latter, it may be due to changes in sartorial trends and perhaps a tendency towards longstanding cultural customs where dressing modestly (both not showing off skin and human figure) is like the norm there.
Not to mention that dressing real skimpily or in skintight clothing there is considered tacky, which gets weird because Japan’s like majority pagan and yet more women dress modestly there than you do with Christian-majority countries like Britain and America. Kind of make one wonder if the ‘submissive Japanese woman’ meme is somewhat warranted, especially if you have boyfriends and husbands who expect their women to dress more modestly. But this means western women aren’t submissive to not only their potential husbands and current husbands, but also to God because they’d rather dress sexy than reserve it for later.
Especially when it comes to marital sex, but even if they’re not particularly promiscuous it still gives a bad impression to others. You have growing numbers of western women who want to dress sexy even to the office, like they want to have it both ways regardless if it may impact their reputation or not. I guess it’s more hip to want to dress sexy than to save face in corporate situations, but it seems these women aren’t submissive in almost every way possible. Perhaps this is actually what the Bible meant by women being quiet in church (especially should they gossip), or being obedient to their husbands when it comes to matters like dressing modestly when in public and the like.
When women of non-Christian majority countries like Egypt and Morocco manage to be more obedient to religious standards than women of Christian majority countries do, it says a lot about why women are called to be obedient to their husbands and boyfriends. It does speak volumes about whether if they really follow the advice of those who know better (husbands and God) or if they fall into bad company (the Devil and peer pressure) as I said before.

When it comes to Goth cartoonists on the Internet, I feel that while Kai Decadence is one of the first that I got really interested in, it’s Arden Wachowski who’s the more talented of the two. Generally better sense of anatomy and while their comics aren’t always so polished, there’s something of an interesting story and angle not commonly found in Anglophone North American comics. As they’re Canadian, Cold Hard Teeth is more interesting than say Captain Canuck.
The latter’s a Canadian superhero as conceived by actual Canadians, but while the stories he appears in are serviceable, Cold Hard Teeth blows the waters off of it because it’s not only more readable but also has a more interesting premise. It’s about two musicians who go Goth upon realising that they’re monsters, also they’re into bands like Bauhaus and Sisters of Mercy which makes the Goth angle all the more authentic and sincere. In ways those written by non-Goths don’t get immediately.
There’s a gulf of difference between something like DC’s Black Alice and the characters at Cold Hard Teeth, or for another matter Courtney Gripling’s Goth makeover. Courtney being this character from As Told By Ginger, but like I said earlier Gordon’s and Tanner’s Goth makeover is sincere as their author actually got into Goth punk music at some point and stuck to it. For all its faults, it’s really well-written and it’s refreshing in a sea of bland superhero stories.
Kai Decadence’s stuff tends to be more sexualised, in the sense that he fetishises not only muscular men, but also bodybuilders and it shows in the way he draws cartoon characters. The less is said about his fursona, the better. While Kai Decadence is one of the earliest I got into, Arden Wachowski’s better even if their art’s not always polished but is at least interesting.

When it comes to Christianity and fashion/clothing, there’s a Bible verse stating that if a woman dresses like a prostitute, she has a deceiving and manipulative heart or something. As what this post suggests that sometimes what prostitutes dress isn’t always the stereotypical image people have in mind, given at some point in Milan prostitutes even wore white. Likewise among the Japanese, wearing tight clothing would be whorish enough. Among Muslims, something that’s skimpy (like short shorts) is whorish enough for them too.
I suspect if something like hanfu becomes so popularised and normalised in the Philippines that things like leggings and booty shorts become the province of prostitutes, the sort of women who’d wear something to seduce men with. While it’s possible to wear skimpy clothing without intending to seduce somebody, but if somebody dresses this way to attract attention then it sends a bad message to other people. Like as if you’re asking for this, that you get a lot of attention and perhaps too much attention.
It goes back to the Bible verse about women in seductive attire having a seductive attitude to boot, which the post suggests may not necessarily involve stereotypical prostitute fashion. To reiterate, to some people both skimpy and tight clothing would be whorish enough. If you don’t want to send the message of being seen as whorish to them, then don’t dress like this or that which goes in line with how dressing in such a way indicates loose morals on some level.
