Reusing costumes

There’s a tendency to reuse costumes especially in historical productions to save time and money. It makes sense as they might not have enough resources to create more of those, let alone historically accurate ones like what Marie Antoinette wore in some of her surviving portraits. The budget might not allow it if it gets too tight and small or if it’s just starting.

It’s like if somebody did a 2022 production of Marquis de Sade, they’d reuse costumes from 2017’s Beauty and the Beast or at least some of them. Again to save money for other things in the future. Same thing goes for props, highlighting some expensive some productions are and can get. There are cases where somebody acquires or makes a costume on the cheap.

It too could be reused again. No difference just to cut costs.
