I think I said it many times over that superheroes and anime could cease to exist given factors like inaccessibility and rapid ageing of the fanbase. To make matters worse, they’re not that popular elsewhere. This complicates accessibility. Perhaps alarmingly for anime, it could be gone for good in the next decade.
The local (Japanese) fanbase isn’t enough to sustain the market and so do many others who pirate because they hardly ever get to have it legally. To be fair, both non comics book and music industries have problems with piracy, the anime fandom’s however much too small to sustain anime in the long run.
Other nations are already stepping in. While Japanese animation wouldn’t be entirely forgotten, its niche will eventually be taken up by its neighbours and even unlikely places like Ghana.
