Portfolio for professionals

DeviantART’s a very popular image-sharing website but that lends itself to a rather sullied reputation for (bad) fanart, pornography and “memes”. Small wonder why more professional illustrators defect to ArtStation (which is increasingly very popular), Behance, Instagram and Facebook.

I suspect these are the same people that used to host their websites on Geocities, Tripod and the like. I’ve observed this and won’t be surprised if they moved over to DeviantART. Not that there’s anything wrong with using DeviantART but the sheer quantity of images that isn’t on more mainstream places like Photobucket makes it harder to find something better.

DeviantART is a great place to start for amateurs and beginners, not so much for professionals and loftier amateurs.
