Like I said about dogs and sheep in the Bible, there is some mistrust or at least ambiguity for the former and honour for the latter. Dogs were used to guard sheep and households but can also harm sheep by their own. This shouldn’t be surprising for farmers and shepherds especially with how they experience dogs.
Especially with their own against stray dogs. Sheep, despite being eaten and made into clothing, would have had a higher reputation among Biblical Jews and some of them would’ve developed very sentimental feelings about them like how people increasingly are with dogs today. This also extended to zoosemy.
Dogs are undoubtedly dangerous to sheep just as the Devil is dangerous for Abrahamic monotheists. They’re useful but not to be trusted with.
