From what I read there, modelling is one of the few industries (if at all) where women are paid more than men do. It says a lot about valuing appearance more in women to the point where they’re pressured to do so and yet get chastised if they’re too blatant about it.
Male models aren’t any better off either when it comes to treatment and possible sneering at their professions but worse off in pay rates. While both of them can and do have double jobs to support themselves, especially if some of them aren’t haute couture models but male models are usually paid less.
It’s likelier that one fast food worker leads an amusing double life as a male underwear model. He would have to work harder to earn money and perhaps that’s why some male models leave the profession altogether in search of better pay.
