I’ve to realise that with aggressive humour, schadenfreude often goes hand in hand with projection. The sneers could be veiled contempt but also jealousy and even embarrassment. Sometimes the person who’s sneering at a Brony could be embarrassed of itself liking something similar so it carries over that shame onto sneering.
Someone would use aggressive humour to make itself feel better, even to the detriment of somebody else. Not everybody uses it but when deployed frequently towards certain individuals, perhaps the user is reminded of itself so it opts to ridicule others because of it.
